Arriving At Hotel La Bougainville, Positano

Well, we didn’t get off to the best start… unfortunately someone in the room next to us was checking in in the early hours of the morning and so it became apparent that the walls at Hotel La Bougainville weren’t the thickest.

However! The guy on the front desk was very helpful about it and even tried to ring the owner in the early hours of the morning. The next morning we met said owner, Giovanni.

Amalfi coast

Giovanni is the epitome of Italian. He oozes Italian-ness… whatever that is! At first I was unsure how to take Giovanni but after a very short while, I realised that he was, in fact, brilliant! He was also kind enough to remove the charge of that first night for us.

Because of Giovanni, we had the most incredible days out, at his suggestion. Sometimes not just his suggestion, but his actual arranging of transport for us via his personal contacts. Giovanni managed to secure us the best private driver for the day, in a matter of minutes. Read more about our day with Milo Tours here.

Breakfasts!

The breakfasts here were super lovely! My favourite part about it might have been the INSANE table which I am obsessed with.

We kept eyeing it up for breakfast but it was usually always taken. So one day I asked Giovanni if we could reserve that table, and we finally got it!

There were pastries, cereal, eggs, fruit, cheese, bread, it was always a pretty delightful way to start the day!

Days Out From Hotel La Bougainville

As mentioned above, Giovanni helped us to organise what turned out to be some of our best days in Italy! We had a day with Milo Tours driving back to Vesuvius to hike the volcano and do a vineyard tour and wine tasting, which was awesome.

AMALFI

Giovanni also helped us to get the local bus to Amalfi and on to Ravello. Ravello was Gio’s suggestion and it was just the most beautiful day out. Seriously, don’t miss it. Read more about our day in Ravello here.

We also caught the bus for a day out at Leonelli’s Beach Club in Sorrento, for a chilled day catching some rays. You can read that post here.

The location of Hotel La Bougainville is perfect really. You are very close (maybe a ten minute walk) into Positano’s beachfront and main area. You are also close to local bus stops and taxi ranks if you want to venture a bit further out.

Positano beach

There are many restaurants and bars really close by, we visited a number of these. You can find the reviews in my Positano collection.

The Dawesy Roundup of Hotel La Bougainville

We had such an enjoyable stay at Hotel La Bougainville. It offers very good value for money. Giovanni really did make all the difference to our experience in Positano and beyond.

I do wonder if we had stayed somewhere else, would we have gotten such an authentic experience of the area? I’m very grateful to Giovanni for all of the help (and it was a lot of help!) that he gave us. I think we gave him a headache by the end!

A wonderful place to stay, led by an Italian legend of a host.
