Chez Black Positano. Daiquiri Days

THIS POST: will give you an overview of visiting Chez Black, Positano and the highlights of our visit.

Chez Black, Positano Beach

Chez Black was supposedly the first restaurant in Positano and has been going since 1949.

The story goes that Salvatore Russo (or Mr Black) welcomed many travellers and celebrities to his restaurant since opening after the war. These people helped to spread the word of the charming little town of Positano.

The location of Chez Black is pretty much unbeatable….right on the beach front. The decor is so kitsch and I personally loved it!

We visited in the early afternoon and were not eating (makes a change) so do note that I have no experience of the food here. Chez Black is widely known for its heart-shaped pizzas and seafood and pasta dishes…if they’re any good or not, I couldn’t tell you!

We managed to nab a table right on the promenade and we ordered some cocktails. The classic onslaught of free Italian snacks (crisps and crostini’s) proceeded to accompany these. Always a win!

Price and Location of Chez Black

We paid €10 each and had a daiquiri, water and snacks. Not too bad, I think. We spent a lovely hour here just taking in the beautiful surroundings and people-watching along the promenade.

However, I have heard that the food options here can be quite expensive and I guess you pay for the prime location that is Chez Black.

We also got to watch an artist at work just a few metres away. He is apparently quite curt and doesn’t appreciate being approached by tourists! I was hoping to get some close up shots of him, but I settled for one from my seat, in fear he would bite my head off…

I would definitely recommend visiting Chez Black for the buzzy atmosphere, people-watching and a drink on the beachfront.

Whether its a great place to have dinner…. I honestly don’t know. There are many fantastic places for dinner in Positano. Maybe I will have to go back to find out!
